Since 2011, the University of Mons had its own "in-house" institutional repository and a mandatory submission policy was established the following year.
However, faced with certain limitations of their tool, UMONS expressed the wish to see it evolve in order to meet the needs of the Institution and its researchers.
For this reason, and because of its expertise in Open Access, the University of Mons requested the ORBi team of the University of Liege to develop a specific instance of ORBi, adapted to their specificities.
"UMONS already had an institutional repository based on DSpace technology, but it needed to be adapted to all the functionalities now offered to researchers (system rapidity, automatic import of publications, link with ORCID, and so forth…). Since ORBi already has all these features and even more with the new version, it was natural to migrate to ORBi", explains Céline Thillou, Director of Administration and Research Valorization at UMONS.
"ORBi UMONS" is therefore available starting May 4th. It is a new little sister for ORBi, next to ORBiLu, which was made available in 2013 for the University of Luxembourg.
We wish them much success towards a common goal: Open Access!
