Abstract :
[en] The chapter explores the way various kinds of media consuming may affect the main dimensions of social capital : network of social relations, political involment (and among it electoral turnout), socializing. What appears is a difference between the media : while an intensive use of television tends to deter social capital (but the certainly not in the huge proportion sometimes assumed), reading newspapers acts exactly in the opposite way. As for Internet, it seems that it depends of the kind of use, but, on the whole it is mainly a support to polititical involvement. The models control effects of age, education and gender.
