Abstract :
[en] This paper examines Newfoundland tradition-bearer Emile Benoît's recreation of Guy Béart's recorded version of 'Vive la rose', highlighting the former's transformation of the text and tune and suggesting a personal interpretation of the traditional recreative process in the light of previous personal field recordings of Benoît's personal experience narratives and singing.
