The recent economic growth of many big cities has led to the new concept of "metropolization" and to numerous research based on new models of urban growth. In trying to draw up on this theme, one has tackled successively four points: the concepts of metropolis and metropolization, the metropolization process, the metropolization and the city systems, the metropolization in Europe and Belgium.
