Abstract :
[en] The first part of the article gives the main results of a survey carried out with 600 children in the 5th and 6th classes of primary schools in the region of Liege. The aim of the survey was to get a better idea of how a child perceives his neighbourhood and how he would like to see it arranged. Due to the variety of questions put forward and to the choice of schools in areas of varied social and economic characteristics, it has been possible to come up with a precise conclusion as to the points considered pleasant or unpleasant as well as the main desires regarding planning and development and to examine these results by area. As we believe that there is much to be gained from a survey on the perception of space in relation to a course on the study of environment, in the second part of the article we propose a new methodology which covers, in succession, lived and perceived space, given and reasoned space, and volontary space.
