[en] We usually study the emerging of a democratic process (as we can observe presently in some East European countries) searching to analyze globally the impacts on this phenomenon of varied consequences of institutional arrangements. However, how could we determine if such arrangement can appear as an accelerator or as a brake to this process without first reflecting on the logics based on which individuals perceive these arrangements and act into them? In fact, we try to demonstrate in this paper that influence of an institution, whatever it can be, must not be conceived as an unidirectional relation (such as an often used logic implies), and that socialization that it brings about must be analyzed according to a process of the construction of reality by the individual. Thus, profiting from this perspective implies the development of another analytical framework, according to a logic based on relativistic interactionism (as suggested, for example, by Jean Piaget’s works). This framework allows us to propose a new research approach, namely the singular study of individuals inside a context (working at the level of the dialectical processes of how the world of reference of each individual is constructed). The demonstration of the interest of this framework is lead with the help of an analysis of some clusters (built with a particular “hierarchic classification” method) of answers of 1000 or so young people from Québec, questioned in 1990 on their participation and their interest in politics. [fr] Il est courant d’étudier l’émergence d’un processus démocratique comme il se produit actuellement dans les pays de l’Europe de l’Est en cherchant à analyser globalement les impacts de divers arrangements institutionnels sur ce phénomène. Mais comment déterminer si tel arrangement pourra se révéler un accélérateur ou un frein à ce processus sans d’abord réfléchir sur les logiques à partir desquelles les individus perçoivent ces arrangements et y agissent ? En fait, nous cherchons à démontrer dans cette communication que l’influence d’une institution, quelle qu’elle soit, ne doit pas être conçue comme une relation unidirectionnelle (telle que le sous-entend une logique souvent employée) et que la socialisation qu’elle entraîne doit plutôt être envisagée selon un processus de construction de la réalité par chaque individu. Tirer profit de cette perspective implique donc le développement d’un cadre d’analyse différent, en fonction d’une logique fondée plutôt sur l’interactionnisme relativiste (tel que le suggèrent, par exemple, les travaux de Jean Piaget). Ce cadre permet de proposer un plan de recherche nouveau, soit l’étude singulière d’individus insérés dans un contexte (en travaillant au niveau des processus dialectiques de construction des univers de référence de chaque individu). La démonstration de l’intérêt de ce cadre est entreprise à l’aide d’une analyse de classifications hiérarchiques des réponses d’un millier de jeunes du Québec, interrogés en 1990 sur leur participation et leur intérêt politique.
