Abstract :
[en] Objectives: The aim of this study is to develop and validate, in terms of content and appearance, a questionnaire (QCT-CD) for runners, focusing specifically on short-distance trail running. Materials and methods: The aim was to develop a questionnaire to collect information from runners on the various internal and external factors that can influence and explain performance. A first version of the questionnaire was presented to a panel of scientific experts in the field of research and/or trail running. In order to gather the experts’ opinions, we used a structured questionnaire with open and closed questions. A content validity index was calculated to check the relevance of individual items and the overall relevance of the proposed questionnaire. The open-ended responses were analyzed and used to identify the questionnaire's key points for improvement. An improved version of the questionnaire was then submitted to 18 trail runners. The “Think Aloud” technique was applied to check the face validity of the tool developed. Analysis of these results led to a final version of the questionnaire. Results: Only 3 out of 33 questionnaire items failed to achieve a content validity index ≥ 0.8. Minor adjustments were proposed to take account of the experts’ pertinent comments. Overall, they felt that the questionnaire was a relevant tool, that it fulfilled its intended purpose, that the wording of the questions was good and that the length was appropriate. Trail runners confirm that the questionnaire is a relevant and complete tool, and that it fulfils its intended purpose. Minor modifications to the tool were made on the basis of relevant feedback. Conclusion: This research enabled the development and validation of the content and appearance of a questionnaire for runners on short-distance trail running.
