Abstract :
[en] This research adopts a political sociology approach in order to explore the governance of fairness in the European music industry. Rather than dealing with fairness as a static or universally agreed-upon principle, this study examines fairness as a dynamic and context-dependent concept – one that is negotiated and contested among diverse stakeholders. The research reveals that perceptions of fairness in the music industry are highly multifaceted, with differing views often tied to stakeholders’ underlying values and roles. Three key elements emerged as central to the concept of fairness: remuneration, transparency, and diversity.
