Abstract :
[en] This analysis is an exploratory work combining autoethnography and discourse analysis and focuses on our linguistic identity as it is built on three alterities. It is built on (1) the practice of a Belgian French that does not exist as such and is marked by linguistic insecurity; (2) Walloon-like practices themselves in tension and (3) a French-Dutch speaking linguistic conflict. From then on, it appears that this identity was built on three alterities which in turn define it: (1) otherness in relation to the well-spoken French language considered as a hegemon which dominates a necessarily marked peripheral speech; (2) otherness in relation to the Walloon language historically spoken in the territory and spoken by the ancestors; (3) otherness finally in relation to the Dutch language spoken by ‘the Other’, constructed and antagonized by and through politically situated narratives and counter-narratives. In the conclusion, we will consider how these identities in tension can be mobilized in an agentive way in order to produce rhetorical effects.
