Abstract :
[en] In what ways do video games engage with the past? What role do historians play in the creation of video games? By exploring these two questions, the conference seeks to highlight the dynamic and sometimes challenging interactions between the video game industry and historical scholarship. Julien Régibeau will explore this field through three main topics: the research and use of ancient imagery by video game developers; the historical narratives constructed in live game streaming; the design of historically accurate video games in an academic context, serving educational, research, and mediation purposes.
