[fr] Cet article s'intéresse aux carrières de grès à paver sollicitées par les Etats liégeois à la fin du XVIIIe siècle pour construire et entretenir les chaussées du pays liégeois. Il aborde plusieurs thématiques : le volet administratif (propriétaires des carrières, statuts des exploitants, contrats, etc.), les produits des carrières, la physionomie générale des sites, les procédés qui amènent le choix d'un site en particulier, mais aussi divers aspects concernant la gestion des carrières et des produits, notamment la gestion des déblais et des déchets, l'exhaure, le contrôle de la production, ou encore la question des stocks, des dépôts et des magasins
[en] This article focuses on the paving sandstone quarries requested by the Liège States at the end of the 18th century to build and maintain the roads of the Liège region. It addresses several themes: the administrative aspect (quarry owners, status of operators, contracts, etc.), quarry products, the general appearance of the sites, the processes which lead to the choice of a particular site, but also various aspects concerning the management of quarries and products, in particular the management of cuttings and waste, dewatering, production control, or the question of stocks and stores
