Abstract :
[en] Dating back to the early tenth century, the so-called Salzburg Rotulus contains a copy of a collection of eight papal and imperial letters and privileges that was established in Salzburg around 870. Though the particular interest of this collection in the pallium and the status of the church of Salzburg as a metropolitan see was recognised early on, these documents have never been studied as a coherent collection. Recent research challenges us to consider a collection not as the mere sum of its parts, but as a work in its own right. This paper will therefore analyse how the documents of the Salzburg Rotulus form a coherent historical narrative by focusing on the headings given to the items, their generic composition, organisational principles, and selection criteria. These points will lead to a better understanding of the possible purpose of both the original collection and its tenth-century copy. [fr] Datant du début du Xe siècle, le « Rotulus de Salzbourg » contient une copie d'une collection de huit lettres et privilèges pontificaux et impériaux élaboré à Salzbourg vers 870. Bien que l’intérêt particulier de ce recueil pour le pallium et le statut de l’Église de Salzbourg en tant que siège métropolitain ait été reconnu très tôt dans la recherche, ces documents n’ont jamais été étudiés en tant que corpus cohérent. Des recherches récentes nous invitent à considérer une collection non pas comme la simple somme de ses parties, mais comme une œuvre à part entière. Cet article analysera donc comment les documents du Rotulus de Salzbourg forment un récit historique cohérent en se concentrant sur les lemmes donnés aux documents, leur composition typologique, leurs principes d'organisation et leurs critères de sélection. Ces points permettront de mieux comprendre l'objectif tant de la collection originale que de sa copie du Xe siècle. [de] Der sogenannte Salzburger Rotulus stammt aus dem frühen 10. Jahrhundert und enthält eine Abschrift einer Sammlung von acht päpstlichen und kaiserlichen Briefen und Privilegien, die um 870 in Salzburg zusammengestellt wurde. Obwohl das besondere Interesse dieser Sammlung am Pallium und am Status der Salzburger Kirche als Metropolitansitz schon früh erkannt wurde, sind diese Dokumente nie als zusammenhängende Sammlung untersucht worden. Neuere Forschungen laden dazu ein, eine Sammlung nicht als bloße Summe ihrer Teile zu betrachten, sondern als eigenständiges Werk. In diesem Beitrag wird daher analysiert, wie die Dokumente des Salzburger Rotulus eine zusammenhängende historische Erzählung bilden, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf den Lemmata der einzelnen Dokumente, ihrer typologischen Zusammensetzung, den Organisationsprinzipien und den Auswahlkriterien liegt. Diese Punkte werden zu einem besseren Verständnis des möglichen Zwecks sowohl der ursprünglichen Sammlung als auch ihrer Abschrift aus dem 10. Jahrhundert führen.
