Abstract :
[en] Not only have the conditions of doing research on contemporary China changed over the last decade, but so have the conditions under which researchers communicate in the media. Demand from the media is ever stronger, while political constraints have also increased. Within this workshop, based on the argument that the issue of the circulation of China research to the media cannot be separate from the conditions of both production and circulation of knowledge, I am interested to tackle the following questions: Under tensed geopolitical context, what can be the added-value of our knowledge production/circulation ? How and under what conditions do we, as researchers working on Chinese society and politics, decide to communicate some of the insights of our research in the media? In which respect may our endeavors to circulate our knowledge to the media and participate to China-related public debates impact our capacity to do fieldwork research in China?
