Abstract :
[en] Many studies exploring the factors associated with asthma-specific quality of life (QOL) have shown that asthma control is the main predictor of asthma-related QOL. However, to the best of our knowledge, no study has ever explored the individual impact of the five main symptoms of asthma (wheezing, dyspnea, chest tightness, cough and airway secretion) reported directly by the patient on asthma-related QOL. A cross-sectional study was conducted on untreated adult (≥18 years) asthmatics recruited from the Liege University Hospital Asthma Clinic (Belgium) for asthma diagnosis confirmation between 2018 and 2021 (n = 171). Multiple linear regression analysis demonstrated that dyspnea and chest tightness were the two leading factors associated with asthma-related QOL in a population of mild asthma.
