Leonardo da Vinci; Portrait of a Woman; Beatrice d'Este
Abstract :
[en] This contribution focus on the Portrait of a Woman, which, since the early 19th
century, has been incorrectly designated as the Belle Ferronnière, especially on
the identification of the sitter. It is plausible to consider that Leonardo painted
Beatrice d’Este: sources and old derivations of the tableau – as the drawing which
belonged to the collector Sebastiano Resta, today conserved in the Galleria degli
Uffizi, and the large engraving, formerly attributed to Zoan Andrea – do not
contradict such a hypothesis.
