[fr] Le 16 octobre 1588, jour de l’ouverture des États généraux de Blois, le roi Henri III prononce une harangue. Le texte a la particularité de nous être parvenu en deux versions : l’une, largement diffusée par les imprimeurs du roi, s’inscrit dans un vaste projet de communication politique ; l’autre, inédite, se trouve dans les Diverses œuvres de Jacques Davy Du Perron, conseiller d’Henri III, et constitue la base sur laquelle le texte officiel a été composé. Il s’agit ici de comparer attentivement ces deux versions. Sera premièrement étudiée la manière dont le roi et son entourage ont adapté la proposition fournie par Du Perron aux enjeux politiques spécifiques des États : quels paragraphes ont été conservés intacts, reformulés, déplacés, modifiés, supprimés ou ajoutés, et pourquoi ? Dans un second temps, une édition de la harangue propose au lecteur une comparaison globale entre les deux versions du texte à travers une confrontation des paragraphes rédigés par le conseiller et de ceux diffusés par les imprimeurs.
[en] On October 16, 1588, the day of the opening of the Estates General in Blois, King Henri III delivered a lecture. The text has the particularity of having come down to us in two versions: one, widely distributed by the king’s printers, is part of a vast project of political communication; the other, unpublished, is found in the Diverses œuvres de Jacques Davy Du Perron, adviser to Henri III, and constitutes the basis on which the official text was composed. The aim here is to carefully compare these two versions. Firstly, an introduction will study the way in which the king and his entourage adapted the Du Perron’s proposal to the specific political issues of the States: which paragraphs were kept intact, reworded, moved, modified, deleted or added, and why? Secondly, an edition of the harangue offers the reader a global comparison between the two versions of the text by converging the paragraphs written by the adviser and those distributed by the printers.
