Abstract :
[en] Transforming growth factor beta1 and Interleukin-6 were measured in the bronchoalveolar lavage fluid of lung cancer patients having received radiotherapy as part of their treatment. Il-6 concentrations remained unchanged during the follow-up period. On the contrary, TGFbeta1 increased continuously and paralleled to severity of pneumonitis. Our study suggests that this profibrogenic cytokine might be involved in radiation-induced lung injury.
