[en] his book focuses on the past and the present, as well as the various possible futures, of transgenic plants in the Europen Union. The various scientific, ethical, social and legal issues to be considered in the development of a new regulatory framework for transgenic props in the European Union are also presented. The book chapter analyses the evolution of the GMO risk assessment in the EU from the first guidelines to the implementing regulations framing the work of the scientific experts.
