[en] Swimming is one of the most common sports activities in Walloon region as in many countries (Bodson, 1997). According to Boullé (1999) swimming courses concern various sectors of practice: the awakening (blooming of the person), the discovery (educational purposes), the improvement (to pass a test or to carry out a performance), the leisure and maintenance (relaxation or improvement of the form and health), the practice in natural environment. Additionally, swimming is a prerequisite to other sports and cultural activities. Considering its place in individual safety, education, health and leisure, its importance in child and youth development is unchallenged.
