[en] The rediscovery of tropical modernism in the Sub-Saharan countries is triggering an architectural renaissance driven by the green expectations to achieve the 11th SDG objectives. The Congolese Belgian colony is custodian of an important heritage of tropical architecture case studies realized before the 1960. This contribution aims to analyse two buildings in Kinshasa (Leopoldville) before the Independence: The Sabena Towers by Claude Laurens (1949) and the Bank of the Belgian Congo by Maurice Houyoux (1954). The analysis targets the sustainable aspects and features already embedded in the tropical language of architecture that once identified and described can recompose the grammar and syntax rules of the future architectural heritage: The past that will be.
