Abstract :
[en] The PhenWheat project aims at designing a close-range detection platform for the automated phenotyping of winter wheat (Triticum aestivum) crops in breeding and varietal assessment trials within the Walloon Region (Belgium). One of the studied varietal traits regards the resistance against fusarium head blight. A method based on Near Infrared Hyperspectral Imaging (NIR-HSI) is proposed in order to assess the infection intensity of Fusarium graminearum on spikes at different development stages, from spike bloom « visible symptoms » until mature spikes (invisible symptoms). Images have been acquired directly in trial plots and in laboratory. The first results tend to confirm the possibility of identifying spikes in trial plots as well as the detection of fusarium head blight infected spikes at different development stages.
