History of ancient veterinary art; Papyrology; Graeco-Roman and Byzantine Egypt
Abstract :
[fr] Animals always enjoyed a privileged status in Egypt. Thus, the veterinary art also had to play an important role, including in the Graeco-Roman and Byzantine periods (332 BC - 641 AD). Some literary and documentary papyri not only supply first-hand information on the practice of the veterinary art and on the condition of the local practitioners, but also give evidence of methods and of a vocabulary often original.
