[en] René de Sluse is best known for his works in mathematics. And yet he was also an excellent experimenter in several fields: astronomy, physics, chemistry, .... He exchanged peer-to-peer with several "big science of his time," e.g. Ch. Huygens. His essays in thermometry were interesting ones even if they do not resulted.
