[en] Multicomponent reactions (MCRs), in which three or more compounds react and form a product containing essentially all atoms of the starting reagents, have been thoroughly exploited in organic synthesis for preparing complex molecules. However, their use in polymer science remained limited until recently. For example, Ugi-four component (Ugi-4CR) was use to synthesize α-amido amide containing polymers. Our research aims to explore the potential of a disregarded version of the Ugi MCR, namely the Ugi-three component reaction (Ugi-3CR), leading to unprecedented polymers containing α-amino amide structure.
