[en] Written around the last years of the fourth century AD, the Ars Grammatica of Diomedes was intended to Greek-speaking people who wanted to learn Latin. Therefore, like Dositheus and Charisius, the composition of this grammar has to be placed in a bilingual context, more specifically in the region of Constantinople, the late capital of the Eastern Roman Empire, where the text might have been published. I would like to explore the traces of bilingualism we can detect in this text, especially the use of Greek words, with a particular attention paid to the cases of intrasentential code-switching, in order to illustrate the dynamics of the coexistence of Greek and Latin in an ancient grammatical work.
