Abstract :
[en] Dystonia 12 (DYT12) or rapid-onset dystonia-parkinsonism is a rare neurological disease with onset in childhood or early adulthood.
The few published reports of ATP1A3-mutated patients who received pallidal surgery (deep brain stimulation or pallidotomy targeting the globus pallidus pars interna [GPi-DBS]) are disappointing as all implanted patients failed to improve. In this situation, botulinum toxin is one of the remaining options to treat focal dystonia.
