Abstract :
[en] One of the most impactful aspects of colonization is ecological colonialism. It led to the transformation of Nature. Colonial violence and European additions in America’s flora, fauna and pathogenesis caused the destruction of millennial civilizations like those of the Aztecs, the Incas or the Arawaks. The Native American genocide led to trafficking and the massive introduction of African slaves into continental demography. The demographic transformations have led to the Afro-Euro-Amerindian interbreeding with strong Western and Judeo-Christian leanings. Colonization therefore profoundly changed the natives' relationship with the territory and natural balances. Plunder, slavery and colonialism have strongly impacted the economic structures of Latin American countries such as Haiti or the Dominican Republic. French capitalism has pushed for the excessive exploitation of natural resources for the exclusive benefit of France. The destruction of Native American cultures was accompanied by profound political change. Colonization politically shaped America and the introduction of European languages did not happen by accident. The root causes deforestation and poverty in the former colonies can be traced back to colonization.
