[en] In this talk, I will describe the challenge of PSF subtraction in high-contrast imaging, and explain how it relates to the problem of background subtraction in thermal IR imaging. I will review the main image processing methods used in high-contrast imaging, and show that some of them can be readily adapted to the case of thermal IR background subtraction. I will also discuss some lessons learned on the operations of high-contrast imaging instruments, and how they could be applied to the case of thermal IR imaging.
