Abstract :
[en] This article investigates the history of the parchment bookroll (volumen) in the Greek world. After introductory remarks on the use of skins as a writing material in Antiquity, a survey of the “physical” characteristics of Judean scrolls will allow for considerations on the anatomy of parchment rolls. All known Greek (and Latin) fragments that may have belonged to a parchment roll will then be studied, in an effort to understand when, where and under which circumstances the Greeks used this particular format.
