Abstract :
[en] Today, digital mediation tools make it possible to simulate tangible heritage elements very faithfully. The conservation of all heritage buildings is not conceivable (in particular for financial reasons). Rehabilitation projects can then give a new use and a new meaning to many buildings. This often leads to projects that cannot maintain all the values associated with these buildings. The presentation investigates the use of digital heritage mediation techniques to render the values of heritage that has been destroyed or inaccessible for a long period of time. We will focus on the case of the Maison Rigo (Liege, Belgium) which was destroyed as part of an urban development project and the Collegiate Sainte-Croix (Liège, Belgique) which is entering a restoration phase for many years. We will also see how the quality of digital heritage data is essential to ensure the correct reproduction of values.
