Abstract :
[en] Pulsed NMR and nonradiative energy transfer (NRET) measurements on blends of s-PMMA and PVC are described. Sources of the small-scale heterogeneity evident in all blends are discussed. Although it was not possible to arrive at a definitive model of this small-scale heterogeneity, consideration was given to factors which had important bearing on the miscibility achieved: (i) the method of mixing used and the relative sensitivity of the investigative techniques used, (ii) the effects of tacticity, molecular weight, and polydispersity on polymer-polymer miscibility, and (iii) the difference in the solubilization power of PVC for PMMA and PMMA for PVC. © 1985, American Chemical Society.
