[en] Spectroscopic studies of the structure and dynamical behavior of bis left bracket eta **3-allylnickel(II) trifluoroacetate right bracket in different solvents have been carried out in order to interpret the striking solvent effect observed in the polymerization process. A random solvation sphere resulting from dipolar interactions between the complex and the solvent molecules accounts for these spectroscopic observations.
