Studied episodic memory performances in outpatients with suspected early-stage Alzheimer's disease (AD). Ss included 20 male and female French middle age and old adults (aged 56–83 yrs) (AD) and 20 normal male and female middle age and old adults (aged 55–84 yrs) (comparison group matched for sociocultural characteristics). All Ss were tested with a paradigm that included controlled encoding and enhanced cued recall. Intragroup and intergroup differences in test performances were analyzed.
