Abstract :
[en] Despite some important publications on late antique ware in the area of Rome, study of local ware (both cooking and tableware) is mostly based on comparisons with a few published assemblages, without any overview of the pottery. Until now, there is no global typology, only focuses on single excavations. This approach unfortunately led to numerous mistakes about typological identifications and do not allow a complete chronological review of the local ware. My poster will be a presentation of the principal forms noticed on Late Antique assemblages around Rome. This work is based on the study of numerous assemblages at Rome and some excavations around the city, still poorly published. It is supported by a seriation of well-published contexts by statistic tools with classification into regional horizons (as defined by X. Deru in its paper “Chronologie, céramique et statistique”, in SFECAG-Congrès de Langres, 2007, pp. 49-60). This communication is part of a more important work on typologies for the ONICer software, currently designed by Xavier Deru with the support of the University of Lille. This software is dedicated to the inventory of archaeological ware, using relational database and a collaborative work on standardized typologies to assist archaeologists in the classification of pottery and to improve comparison with similar designations. At the same time of the poster presentation, the typologies concerned will be uploaded on the software.
