Abstract :

[en] We report six cases of children with probable or confirmed Kingella kingae bone and joint infections (BJI) and discuss the role of this pathogen in the pediatric population. The advent of Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) led to the recognition of the importance of Kingella kingae in several human diseases, particularly in BJI affecting children aged 6 to 48 months. Kingella kingae infections in children have most often a good prognosis provided that the diagnosis is discussed, appropriate diagnostic methods are performed and effective antibiotics are prescribed.
