Abstract :
[en] Triathlon is a sport combining three disciplines (swimming-cycling and running), which is gaining popularity and causing injuries due to the consequent load of training whatever the level of practice. The precise epidemiological data have still to be established, but it appears that: (1) the incidence reported per 1000 hours of training is relatively low given the weekly load of triathletes and the incidence increases during competitions, (2) most of injuries are overuse one and are similar to those encountered in running, the most traumatic discipline, (3) the most common lesion sites are the knee and the leg, (4) the risk factors are previous injury and training errors. Considering an ideal model of care, a precise diagnosis must be made by the doctor when the appearance of a pain has a negative impact on the sports activities. A medical care strategy is then established by the various stakeholders (doctor – physiotherapist – physical trainer and trainer) and will be adapted according to evolution. This multidisciplinary approach is essential to avoid fixed situations and therapeutic failures. © 2019 Elsevier Masson SAS
