[en] Nutritional management of the cancerous animals requires a complete analysis. The type of tumor process and its impact on the body (Warburg effect, increased use of certain nutrients favor tumor growth or paraneoplasic cachexia), the general condition of the animal and the side-effects of the treatment(s) initiated must all be taken into account in order to establish the feeding plan. An individualized diet is established by calculating the energy requirements of the animal, choosing a food adapted to the nutritional needs and making specific recommendations for the owners. Special attention should be given to monitoring the animal because of the evolutionary nature of the tumor process, and if necessary, the feeding plan should be modified according to the observed changes.
