Abstract :
[en] The local frame approach is based on a unified representation of the velocity and strain fields in the local frame attached to the centerline of rods or to the reference surface of shells. It leads to an intrinsic and local frame representation of the force and momentum balance, i.e., of the equations of motion. The space and time discretization schemes are obtained using the Lie group theory. Besides a presentation of the local formulation, the talk illustrates its properties using geometrically nonlinear beam and shell examples.
