Abstract :
[en] This article examines the results of a socio-anthropological investigation of the job of medical social worker in a prenatal consultation centre. Considering the concept of parenthood, the interviews and observations were meant to study interactions within the Belgian Office de la Naissance et de l’Enfance [Birth and Childhood Service] (ONE). The analysis resorts to the concepts of biopolitics, social control and social transaction to enlighten the objectives of the ONE institution, and to get a better understanding of the different ways in which medical social workers manage to deal with social parenthood norms in their clinical work.
[fr] Cet article présente les résultats d’une analyse socio-anthropologique de la profession de travailleur médico-social au sein d’une consultation prénatale. Tenant compte du concept de parentalité, les entretiens et les observations réalisés avaient pour but d’examiner les interactions au sein de ce service de l’Office de la naissance et de l’enfance (ONE). Différents auteurs sont mobilisés autour des concepts de biopolitique, de contrôle social et de transaction sociale afin d’analyser les objectifs poursuivis par l’institution ONE et les formes de négociation des normes de parentalité dans le travail clinique exercé par le travailleur médico-social.
