[en] This chapter reports an original empirical study into the demographic and behavioral characteristics of 33 Belgian sexual murders. The analysis of these offenders and their crimes identified two broad offense templates that characterize these crimes. Thes were, respectively, labeled "opportunistic-impulsive" and "sadist-calculator". The similarities these templates bear to other international models in the area of sexual murder are also considered.
