[en] The raw material used in the potter site of Talatast (Morocco) is collected from Triassic colluviums. Our study aims to characterize the mineralogical and geotechnical properties of the local clayey material before and after cooking. Our results confirm that the coarse particle size, the mineralogy of the clay fraction and the rate of fondants are suitable for the cookware material production. Defects encountered during the production are mainly related to the use of traditional ovens. Understanding the origin of the main defects could be helpful to promote the local pottery production.
