Alejandro Páez Varela; feminicidio; norte de México; parataxis; narconovela
Abstract :
[en] A stylistic analysis of Corazón de Kaláshnikov (2009) by Alejandro Páez Varela highlights that the novel is extremely elliptic: the focalization of the characters is external, the causal relations are implicit and the style is very much paratactic. This seems to correspond to an ethical choice for not participating in the sensationalist representations of the violence in Ciudad Juárez, an option Páez Varela shares with the Bolaño of 2666, specifically the part about the femicides. At the same time, Corazón de Kaláshnikov seems to be typical of a certain style practiced in the north of Mexico, tense and sober, and related to a peculiar geographic and climatic environment.
