[en] Despite his long expositions and treatises dealing with martyrial heroism, Tertullian does not seem to have influenced the North African hagiographical production (iind-vith centuries), while Cyprian did it deeply. This article aims to show that the influence of the african rhetor was yet genuine. If it is difficult to detect in the Passio sanctarum Perpetuae et Felicitatis, we can find it in donatist hagiography and above all in hagiographic texts from Mauretania Caesariensis. By studying themes and literary echoes coming from Tertullian’s work, this contribution wants to help with a better comprehension of the legacy left by the rhetor in a literary genre which is not much examine from this point of view. It also wants to highlight the cultural vitality of Mauretania Caesariensis during late Antiquity.
