[en] Three children presented with contact sensitization to decorative skin paintings applied during their summer holidays. Patch testing revealed severe contact hypersensitivity to p-phenylenediamine (PPD) in all patients. The eruptions healed following spontaneous elimination of the dyes and application of topical corticosteroids, but left postinflammatory depigmentation. PPD was the main allergen identified in allergic reactions to decorative skin paintings.
