[en] Abstract: The aim of this paper is to undertake some key elements provided by the Genetic Criticism (fr. “Critique génétique”) about the treatment of modern manuscripts, and more specifically the object it defines as “rough draft” (fr. “brouillon”). After a brief introduction, we will discuss the difference between “modern” and “ancient” (or “medieval”) manuscripts (§ 3), the concept of “rough draft” as “semiotic object” (§ 4), the relevance of a genetic approach on Saussure’s unpublished notes (§ 5) and, finally, the different editing possibilities of the aforementioned manuscripts (§ 6).
