[en] The article analyses the differences in the treatment of the Afro-American slavery between the two latest editions of the famous Histoire des deux Indes, by Raynal and Diderot (1780-1820). The influence of the liberal ideology dominating the 1820 edition . The use of black music - field-hollers, gospel, blues, etc. - as a mean for intensifying and also softening the farm-work remains one of the most curious recommandations common two both editions. The observation concerning the "natural dispositions" of Black people for danse and music is original, compared wth what we learn from Eileen Southern's reserches and the testimonies of Nicholas Cresswell or Philip Vickers Fithian. The 1820 editions delivers a cruel picture of the other natural dispositions of Black people and of their future, considering thems as mere "machines" devoted to the increasement of colonial maket.
