[en] During the last ten years, the evolution of the status of the mammal fauna of Wallony (southern part of Belgium) can be characterized by four main trends: i- enforcement of a better legal protection ii- arrival of at least four new species: coypu, raccoon, raccon-dog and American mink iii- restoration of badger numbers following the efficient control of rabies iv- increase of anthropophilic or game species (stone marten, ungulates). Unfortunately, the most threathened species (otter, horseshoe bats, barbastella) did not recover.
