Abstract :
[en] Some basic stages of history of psychology are reviewed to understand the revival for the twenty last years of the concept of volition, distinct from the motivation one, at the same time in North-American and European psychology up to become a primary construct in goal-directed behaviours explanation, particularly when goal is difficult to reach. Various studies are reviewed that testify to the importance of this construct especially in educational and adult training psychology. [fr] A travers quelques grandes étapes de l'histoire de la psychologie, on montre comment le concept de volition, distinct de celui de motivation, connaît une reviviscence depuis les vingt dernières années à la fois dans la psychologie nord-américaine et européenne pour devenir un construit incontournable de l'explication des conduites dirigées vers un but difficile à atteindre. On passe en revue divers travaux qui témoignent de l'importance à accorder à ce construit notamment dans la pychologie de l'éducation et de la formation des adultes.
