[en] Different sex hormones are required for the activation of sexual behavior in males and females (testosterone in males vs estradiol and progesterone in females). The action of testosterone on male sexual behavior is mediated in part by its conversion into an estrogen within the brain, a reaction catalyzed by the enzyme aromatase. This talk will focus on how neuroestrogens control male sexual behavior but will also discuss what neuroestrogens might do in females.
