Abstract :
[en] The role of the dentist or orthodontist must be taken into consideration in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea because of the premium movens of the chronic and anatomical disease, which is facial compression. As ENT and orthodontiste, we need to check the respiratory context from birth to ensure proper development of the maxilla and the mandible in 3D. In this presentation, we will look specifically at the side effects of mandibular advancement devices (MADs) in adults. There are 5 main points of focus for preventing side effects with MAD: overjet and overbite, morphological type, possible pain of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) or mandibular deviation; periodontal problems and, at last, tooth wear. We will move on to three clinical cases of dental wear, and obstructive sleep apnea, protrusion of the incisors and appearance of dental gaps as well as the treatment of these effects.
